About Embreonix: A day in the life..
Ever wondered what it would be like to develop and run a business, and study at the same time? Two of our clients describe a day in their life...the good bits and the bad.
1) An average day in Embreonix provides me with the perfect opportunity to focus 100% of my time on my business. The facilities are excellent, with my own office set-up, including computer hardware, software budget and telephone.
We have a 2-hour lecture in the morning, which is fairly informal, and usually is a good opportunity to critically appraise and formulate new business ideas. The lecturers have practical business experience behind them, which is really useful for our own ventures, as they are willing to provide advice and support. They provide us with information that would cost serious money to obtain from a business consultant, or an outside agency.
Most afternoons are spent networking with the other students, who like myself are trying to get their business off the ground. It’s a great environment, with open plan offices, meeting rooms, lounge area, and plenty of business resources to keep us occupied.
It would be extremely difficult to try and set up my business in my spare time, which thanks to Embreonix, is something I don’t have to contend with. I strongly recommend Embreonix to anyone who is serious about becoming an entrepreneur and starting their own business.

2) “Plant a plant”
The Embreonix business incubator at the University of Abertay Dundee is an excellent place to learn and understand the art and language of business. Everybody here has the drive to make something of his or her dream related to business, no matter what the field of interest. And that is the good part of the story already: to be accepted as a young entrepreneur with a wide and realistic vision on purposes, possibilities, opportunities and success. Here is the good soil for business-minded seeds to shoot!
The necessary and valuable input from professionals takes place every morning when classes are organised. The business ideas and potential markets then get critically revised, analysed and thought through with the other colleagues-students and professors. This is very helpful because whilst every (future) business owner (let’s be honest:) is very enthusiastic about their own venture, they sometimes fail to listen to the advice or experience from others, which is worthwhile getting and taking on board for consideration. Eyes-wide-opening evaluation thus begins!
In the afternoon, and for me during week-ends as well (being a workaholic and yes, I admit, being obsessed by lucrative business), there is a chance to exchange ripe ideas, explore and develop the business thoughts with colleague-students, business-related visitors, interested people, potential clients or partners, future investors… while there are excellent business facilities at the Embreonix Department! At your disposal are conference rooms, offices, telephones, a fax and copy machine, personal desktops with printer and Internet connection, completed with again that professional guidance and supervision. And all this, compiled with your own determination and devotion to make something of that business venture of yours, is the perfect formula for an excellent environment for business minded seeds to becoming a young plant finding roots, getting watered and grown, before being over-planted in the big wide business world.
Thank you for this facility, chance and possibility. The youth is the future of tomorrow’s economy. It is worth getting invested in it.
